  • Understand the fundamentals of the extrusion process.
  • Review and write test documents for new product development.
  • Review and adjust line parameters to maintain quality and yarn physical properties. Document all changes and reasons for the changes in the log book.
  • Communicate line performance and issues to Sr. Process Engineer or upper management. Work with plant maintenance to resolve line or mechanical issues.
  • Understand required raw materials needed for trials. Order new materials and equipment when needed.
  • Operate MX71 pilot line. Perform spin pack changes and manage raw materials.  Operate MX71 dryer systems and additive feeders.
  • Manage trial activities on other equipment as needed.
  • Support vendor or supplier trial activities.
  • Responsible for housekeeping in the Engineering and MX71 areas of responsibility.
  • Aiding in product transitions concerning, but not limited to, finish oil, jets, polymer, packs, and line start-up and shut downs.
  • Perform lab tests and understand how to operate certain lab equipment.
  • Abide all safety rules and regulations required for Mohawk Industries.
  • Work with suppliers and vendors regarding product improvement and raw materials.
  • Drive a fork lift when needed to move raw materials.
  • Work in other Mohawk facilities as needed.


  • 5-10 yrs extrusion operator experience and process knowledge required.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred. 
  • Read and write in standard English.
  • Successful completion of all required health and environmental safety training
  • Ability to have a flexible working schedule.
  • Understand the basic of carpet manufacturing.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).
