Responsibilities

The Operator IV (Lead Operator) performs various job functions to support the operation on the Lacquering Line.  The duties range from cleaning the line to directing all aspects of the Lacquering line operation

 

  • Direct the operation on the lacquering line to comply with all established quality and production standards established by Unilin.
  • Organize maintenance on the lacquering line to ensure its ability to perform to standards.
  • Ensure the accuracy of all production paperwork.
  • Supervise the activities of lacquering Forklift Drivers, Assistant Operators, and other Operators to ensure that material is being processed correctly.
  • Counsel, train, and motivate Lacquer line employees.
  • Monitor consumption and be able to answer any questions about overages and/or issues.
  • Be accountable for production shortages or excessive downtime incurred.
  • Ensure that quality checks are performed in accordance with Unilin procedures.
  • Read, understand, and follow packaging instructions for material being packaged.
  • Direct the cleaning of the lacquer line and packaging areas.
  • Assist other work centers with cleaning or packaging as directed by the Lacquering Area Superintendent.
  • Locate supplies needed to perform any of the above functions and notify the proper parties of any in short supply.
  • Communicate any problems or ideas that you have to the Lacquering Area Superintendent.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the Lacquering Area Superintendent.

Please Note: This is a Night Shift Position, 6 pm - 6 am.

Qualifications

Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting.

 

3 to 5 years roll coater experience

 

Forklift Certification to 550

Computer skills

Math skills

Communication skills

Light mechanical skills

Ability to read a tape ruler and micrometer

 

Must be able to walk and/or stand for extended periods of time on concrete.

Must be able to push or pull 50 lbs frequently and up to 80 lbs occasionally.

Must be able to work in varying temperatures up to 110 degrees and work in a dusty environment.

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 80 lbs. occasionally.

Must be able to climb vertical ladders, multiple flights of stairs and work off elevated surfaces.

Must not have any limitations in regards to working in confined spaces.

Must be able to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and steel toe shoes.

Must be able to make repetitive motions involving twisting and turning.

Must be able to kneel and bend over frequently.

Must be able to climb on and work around machinery resulting in awkward or uncomfortable positions.

Must be able to sit and drive a forklift on uneven driving surfaces.

Must have vision of 20/50 (corrected or not).
