Primary Objective of this position:    Responsible for slitting laminate rolls which are used to make quality molding products while meeting or exceeding expected safety, quality, production and customer satisfaction goals.   Position requires flexibility with work schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance with all company safety rules and procedures.
  • Mounts logs on machine supports and threads material over tension bar, between feed rollers and under rotary blades.
  • Slit logs into individual rolls according to specifications to assure that finished product meets quality and accuracy standards, and inspect and eliminate bad material.
  • Requires attention to detail as operator must observe flow of material through machine to detect irregular cutting and winding and make adjustments as needed.
  • Operate controls to stop, start and regulate speed of machine and to align material with cutting rotary blades. Space rotary blades on machine shaft, according to specific widths, and turns setscrew to secure blades in position. Disengage winding shaft and remove rolls of material.
  • Maintain all parts and equipment associated with slitting machine.
  • Monitors and troubleshoots specific machinery operating deficiencies
  • Performs minor repairs on machines and may assist maintenance
  • Understand and apply all company rules, policies and safety regulations. Maintain and keep work area clean and neat.
  • Perform all quality tests as required to correct quality defects
  • Perform duties using proper housekeeping and observes safe work practices
  • Fills out inventory control, end of order forms, end of shift paperwork and other paperwork as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 3-5 years experience working with continuous multi-functional production/processing machinery.
  • Previous experience in an automated manufacturing production environment highly preferred.

 

  • Good written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations, including conversion to metric system.
  • Read and comprehend technical manuals and procedures.
  • Must be able to prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Good math skills, including the knowledge of arithmetic, basic algebra, geometry, and statistics, and their applications
